Mark Rich, CFP®, Financial Coach, enjoys empowering individuals and families to achieve their financial goals. He uses knowledge and planning to help alleviate the anxiety that is often related to money. His abilities stem from extensive study and his rewarding career as a retirement and pension plan expert at a major international human resources company.
Mark has worked with large, complex corporations for more than 20 years, including some of Maine’s top employers as well as organizations in Spain and Portugal. He works from an organizational perspective on the design, management and administration of retirement plans, but his ultimate goal is retirement security for individuals. At Goldman Financial Planning, he can connect directly with individuals and see firsthand how his efforts benefit their everyday lives.
A good listener and excellent problem-solver, Mark efficiently translates his clients’ long-term and short-term financial needs into action. He believes in placing clients first by providing personalized care and the education they need to take control of their goals and dreams.
Since childhood, Mark has always loved math. He grew to enjoy applying it to everyday life, graduating from college with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Finance. He then spent eight years studying to be an actuary, passing extremely rigorous exams that encompassed mathematics, finance, insurance, Social Security, retirement planning and more. Mark is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries® (FSA), the highest attainable designation. As an enrolled actuary, he is also an expert in pension plans. Mark followed his actuarial certification with additional study to attain his CFP® designation.
Mark loves running, reading and traveling. A board member at a prominent non-profit organization, he is also a Portland Area Youth Soccer Association (PAYSA) coach. Mark lives in Portland with his two children.
