Friendship, kindness, proud, excitement, intrigued, happy… these are some of the words that the 18 attendees at the Gather & Give launch last week chose to describe our first gathering. We spent the first half hour socializing and enjoying some yummy vegan nosh (yes, that’s possible!) from chef Missy of Sol Food. Then we spent an hour doing the fun work that had brought us together.
So why exactly did we launch Gather & Give?
Meaningful Fun… it’s an enjoyable excuse to get together with a group of kind people to do something that makes a difference.
Amplify Our Impact… by pooling our money, knowledge, and networks we can have a more positive impact together than we can individually
Promote Good Causes… by spreading the word about the needs in our community and the organizations working to address them.
Learn to Give Smartly… by listening to non-profits and experts on how to give for maximum impact.
Help Our Community… by focusing on good causes that help our neighbors right here in Maine.
Our plan is to host gatherings four times each year. At each gathering we will award one or more $5,000 grants to Maine charities nominated and chosen by Gather & Give members. Our next gathering is scheduled for Thursday, November 9th.
